Please join us in congratulating Jim and Cindy

On September 4th, 2024, Helena Area Community Foundation will host a donor reception to thank supporters and honor Jim and Cindy Utterback, our 2024 Steve Browning "Spirit of Philanthropy" Award winners, for their contributions to the Helena area.

Introducing our honorees,

Jim and Cindy Utterback moved to Helena from El Paso, TX, in December 1990, and (despite the cold) quickly fell in love with the community. Jim, a former CPA and Managing Partner of Coopers & Lybrand, made a significant career shift by purchasing and expanding a car dealership in Helena. He later transitioned to business consulting and became Director and Owner of CSI Financial Services focusing on the healthcare market. Jim retired in 2015 but remains a Director. Cindy continued her career with Anderson ZurMuehlen, (now Pinion,) rising to Shareholder and serving on the Board of Directors, including a term as the first female Chairman of the Board. She currently serves as a Director for Eagle Bancorp Montana, Inc., and has been involved in various professional committees and task forces. Jim and Cindy’s community service in Helena and Montana is extensive, and their generosity has made a lasting impression on our community.

Jim has held many philanthropic roles, including President and Director of Prickly Pear Land Trust, Trustee of the Montana Historical Society, and President of the Helena Chamber of Commerce. Cindy's community service includes Co-Chair and Director of the Foundation for Animals, raising funds and building the Montana Wild Rehabilitation Center, and roles with the Montana Community Foundation and Helena Industries, Inc. She was also a founding member of the Helena Area Community Foundation. Jim and Cindy are passionate about their community, supporting local nonprofits like Florence Crittenton, Archie Bray Foundation, and Prickly Pear Land Trust. They enjoy the outdoors, often seen on the trail system with their dogs, traveling, and fly fishing. The Utterbacks feel blessed to call Helena, Montana, their home and remain committed to giving back to their community.

A gift in honor of Jim and Cindy is an incredible way to celebrate their achievement, and to join them in love for the greater Helena Community.
