July 3, 2022 Flash Flood Response

Give Locally for Flash Flood Relief

On July 3, 2022, Helena Montana experienced an intense storm that caused flash flooding. Several nonprofits were directly impacted, and as the storm happened during a holiday weekend, it will likely take several days to fully assess the damages.

The Helena Area Community Foundation (HACF), in partnership with the United Way of the Lewis and Clark Area (United Way LCA) have opened a fund to provide emergency funding to local nonprofits who were impacted.

There is known damage to the local YWCA as well as to the Lewis and Clark library.

If you'd like to make gifts directly to the YWCA, please visit YWCAhelena.org/donate. For the Lewis and Clark Library, visit https://www.lclibrary.org/233/Support-the-Library.

Both HACF and United Way LCA will continue to update our websites as local needs are assessed. If you are a nonprofit that has experienced damage, please reach out to Emily Frazier at emilyf@helenaareacommunityfoundation.org and let us know what supplies you may need so that we can share that information with our community.

Unless a nonprofit specifically asks for material items, please consider your ability to be generous with monetary donations, as flooding events typically do not leave organizations with space to store supplies.

Funds donated to this campaign will be distributed as grants to local nonprofits. If, for any reason, more funding is raised than is needed for flash flood relief, those funds will be retained until another emergency impacts our communities.

Please donate to the Helena Area Emergency Relief Fund to ensure that the local nonprofit community has the needed resources to keep our communities and the individuals they serve safe, healthy, and resilient.

If you have questions about the fund, please reach out to Emily Frazier at emilyf@helenaareacommunityfoundation.org or (406) 459-0928.
